Permanent cosmetics are a tattooing process by which natural
pigments are inserted into the skin, reducing or eliminating the need to apply
makeup. They may be sought for convenience, to improve a facial feature's
shape,
or as a solution for those with allergies who can't wear
makeup.
The procedures are relatively simple, and most can be done in
an hour, requiring only topical anesthetic. One common application is the use
of permanent lip color. The lips may be outlined with tiny dots of pigment to
create a fuller appearance, define the border, alter the shape, or disguise
scars around the mouth.
The overall color of the lips may also be
enhanced with pigments ranging from natural to bright tones. The tattooing
process is also used to create permanent eyeliner at the base of the eyelashes.
To achieve this effect, thousands of tiny sites along the lash line are
implanted with a dark pigment.
Both men and women can benefit from this
technique, especially those with blonde lashes. After the procedure, you may
experience a little swelling, though it usually goes away rapidly.
Permanent makeup has been around for a long time primarily used in
reconstruction surgery processes for cancer patients. It was utilized as part
of breast reconstruction, eye brow restoration and to camouflage scars.
Recently the procedure has become popular in the larger states like
Florida, California and New York to be used for cosmetic purposes. "It's an
additional cosmetic option we felt would benefit women," says Cosmetic Laser
Studio founder and medical director, Dr. Dee Carter. "By performing the
procedure in a doctor's office, it ensures that you have well-qualified
professionals performing the work under the supervision of a physician."
Eyeliner and lips are two of the most popular areas of the face to
benefit from permanent makeup. Think of it... wake up in the morning, play a
game of tennis, go swimming and emerge looking fresh without the worries of
running makeup or other cosmetic mishaps! "
Most of our patients come
into The Cosmetic Laser Studio with their own makeup to show us the shades they
most often use. We match the colorization with our exclusive line of permanent
pigment solutions," added Dr. Carter. "Women are having their lips done in
muted tones where they can always apply makeup on top of the permanent makeup
with very good results. As your applied lip stick wears off, or after you wash
your face, you still have good color in your lips which gives you a more
finished look." Permanent makeup has many applications but is particularly well
suited for today's active lifestyles. Women that are athletically active or
enjoy the outdoors find the permanent makeup greatly simplifies their morning
and gym routines.
Permanent makeup does not come off in water.
Perspiration has no affect on it. It is there throughout your day and
allows you to fell more confident in your appearance.
"It is really
amazing how natural it looks, how simple it is to have done, and how
comfortable we are able to make patients during the application process," says
Dr. Carter.
Restylane® has been
used in more than 3 million treatments7 in over 70 countries and is now
approved in the U.S. for the treatment of facial wrinkles and folds.
The answer to lasting wrinkle correction is Restylane.
If you're
considering a wrinkle correction treatment, we invite you to learn important
facts about Restylane. In this section, you'll learn more about Restylane and
see examples of how it can help you realize your goal of a younger and
healthier appearance. It's quick and easy. The recovery time is minimal and the
results are immediate and lasting.
Restylane® is a safe and natural
cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct
facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.
Restylane has a
highly favorable safety profile. It is composed of non-animal stabilized
hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the human
body. Restylane is fully biocompatible. There is limited risk of animal-based
disease transmission or development of allergic reactions to animal proteins.
No allergy testing is required before use.*
Restylane maintains its
shape using the body's own moisture. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is
hydrophilic or "water loving." As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each
molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained
with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of hyaluronic acid to bind to water is
what helps provide long-lasting results.
Unlike rooster-derived
hyaluronic acids and bovine collagen products, Restylane is free from animal
proteins. This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmissions or
development of allergic reactions to animal proteins.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple,
nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth
moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years
of age. It is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA).
Take a look at men and women who've had
BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments, and see for yourself! One 10-minute treatment-a
few tiny injections-and within days there's a noticeable improvement in
moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, which can last up to 4
months. Results may vary.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein
produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of
the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows to form over time.
In 2005, almost 3.3 million procedures were performed with FDA-approved
BOTOX® Cosmetic.
There's only one BOTOX® Cosmetic. Talk to Dr.
Carter to see if BOTOX® Cosmetic is right for you!
One day you
looked in the mirror and studied those lines that furrowed your brow, and you
wondered: Where did they come from?
Is it just aging? Too much sun? Too
much stress? In general, how skin ages and wrinkles is a complex process. It
isn't just about cellular changes, collagen depletion, hormone loss, damage
caused by free radicals, and so on; it's a combination of many factors.
The Anatomy of the Wrinkle The lines that appear between
your brows (glabellar lines) actually result from muscle movement and the
passage of time. You may have heard the expression "wearing your emotions on
your sleeve," but in reality you wear them on your face. If you're angry or
annoyed, for example, you knit your brows together. Underneath your skin, your
facial muscles contract, cause a pleating of the overlying skin, and then, as
anyone can see, you're frowning.
After years of crinkling and
wrinkling, those glabellar lines start to linger longer and can become more
pronounced. For women, whose faces tend to be more animated than men's, and
whose skin is typically more delicate, these lines may appear exaggerated and
more permanent.
Fortunately, there is a way to temporarily reduce
moderate to severe glabellar lines. Treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic can
visibly smooth and soften moderate to severe frown lines between your brows. An
improvement can be seen within days and may last up to 4 months, although
results may vary. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women surveyed
rated the improvement in the appearance of frown lines between their brows as
moderate to better 1 month after treatment.
